On March 11, 2021, the State Pedagogical University “Ion Creanga” (UPSC) and Keystone Moldova signed an important collaboration agreement as part of the implementation of a “Cross-border Partnership for Inclusive Career Guidance” project for young people with disability in Romania and Moldova.
Ludmila Malcoci, KHS Director for Central and Eastern Europe, spoke of the importance of education as a necessary foundation to access to the open labor market. “In Moldova, the unemployment rate for people with disability is more than twice that of the general population. Educational constraints and general lack of public accommodation contribute to limited access to employment. We know that meaningful employment is a critical pathway to an independent and full life for everyone, and we are proud to say that this project will help make that a reality for people with disability.”
The cross-border project is a partnership between Keystone Moldova and the Alaturi de Voi Romania Foundation (ADV) and is funded by the European Union, within the Joint Operational Program for Romania and Moldova, through the European Neighborhood Instrument (ENI). The UPSC Faculty of Psychology and Special Psychopedagogy, Center for Continuing Education and the Directorate of Students, and Counseling and Career Guidance center will help develop specific skills and strategies for career counseling for young people with disability.
