Keystone Human Services (KHS) and Susquehanna Service Dogs Open the Doors of the Robin C. Reedy Center Training Center in Grantville, Pa
Grantville, PA—Susquehanna Service Dogs, an internationally recognized assistance dogs program of Keystone Human Services, opened the Robin C. Reedy Center, an exciting new training center and SSD headquarters in Grantville, PA. This center marks a new era of making a difference for thousands of people with disability, veterans, schools, hospitals, courthouses, and cancer centers.
“This building reflects a community that came together with the purpose of making a difference in people’s lives,” said Charles Hooker, President and CEO of Keystone Human Services. “Now Susquehanna Service Dogs will be able to train more life-change assistance dogs and have an even greater impact in the community.”
“We’re really focused on meeting people’s needs,” said Deb Tack, Director of Susquehanna Service Dogs. “In the classrooms, the acoustics, lighting, color palette, and more were all selected to create a comfortable environment so partners can focus on learning how to work with their new assistance dog.”
The training center also includes indoor and outdoor stairs, a washer and dryer, a residential-style bathroom, large and small automatic door buttons, and a simulated elevator. All of these details make it possible for SSD to train assistance dogs more efficiently on site, as well as provide partners and volunteers opportunities to practice skills with assistance dogs and assistance dogs in training under the guidance of the trainers.
The kennel includes 24 dog runs with outdoor access, double what SSD previously had, as well as three play yards.
Located at 1078 Gravel Hill Road, the Robin C. Reedy Training Center is over 13,000 square feet.
