“Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.” Anais Nin
We know that friendships and relationships are critically important in all our lives, and we also know that the valued roles that we hold often bring people into our lives. Even for people who hold a relatively valued status, friendships require intention, effort, and time. Those who have strong friendships live longer, remain healthier, and have fuller lives.
Our understanding of Social Role Valorization has made it clear that vulnerable people, including people with disabilities, tend to have few freely given relationships, and often experience profound rejection from others. In this workshop, Darcy Elks will help us understand a bit more about how we might work with great intention to assist people to develop strong and abiding relationships.
Pre-Requisite: The workshop is a pilot only, open by invitation to the All-India SRV Network, and those with an SRV keenness for preview.
