“I want my children to be safe, to have a happy childhood,” said Alina Lotocovska, a mother from Ukraine. In October 2023, she and her three children arrived in Moldova, where they received support through Keystone Moldova to help her children to grow and develop.

Keystone Moldova has been providing support for people seeking refuge from Ukraine, as well as Moldovans affected by the war, for two years. True to our mission, our work has centered around supporting people with disability, advocating for inclusive emergency response.

Over the past two years, we have adapted and expanded our services in Moldova to ensure that people with disability affected by the war have timely access to information, resources, and medical and psycho-social support. We are continuing to address people’s immediate needs as they change, providing vouchers for food, linens, and clothes, as well as supplies for heat.

Mobile teams travel throughout the country, connecting people with resources and providing counseling and medical assistance, as well as accessible transportation.

“In many ways, the work by the Keystone Moldova team has been transformative in the lives of refugees and people with disability, breaking down barriers to vital support and resources,” said Charles Sweeder, President and CEO of Keystone Human Services. “We look for ways we can not only support people with disability to live full lives within the community, but how we can help build resilient services and promote inclusion.”
