Director of Susquehanna Service Dogs Receives Patriot Award
We’re proud to share that Susquehanna Service Dogs Director Deb Tack has received the Patriot Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an office within the Department of Defense. This award is given to supervisors and employers who support their Guard and Reserve employees. Brittany MacBlane, a Staff Sergeant in the Air National Guard and our Puppy Sitter Coordinator, who nominated Deb said:
“Deb is always incredibly supportive whenever I get called away. I was called to PCS (permanent change of station) to Germany in 2021 for six months. During that time, I was very stressed, but she reassured me that, of all things, work was not something I should stress about. SSD would make it work while I was gone and my job would be waiting for me when I returned. I was extended for another year. I was home for only two months and then left again for 365 days. Once again, Deb was amazing, so understanding and so happy for me that I got this opportunity. She reached out multiple times to check in and see how I was doing. It means a lot to me to be able to honor her for being such a great supervisor and supporting me in my National Guard duties.”
“I’m honored to receive this award,” said Deb. “We’re proud to support Brittany in her service. It’s part of our mission at Susquehanna Service Dogs to support people to pursue their goals and live full, meaningful lives, and we’re working hard to build a supportive, inclusive community not only for our partners with their assistance dogs, but for our volunteers and employees as well.”
