K9 Presley Accompanies Law Enforcement Team in Paris

K9 Presley, formerly SSD Presley, is part of the law enforcement team from Fairfax County, Virginia that will be working in Paris, France for a few weeks this summer.

Born in September 2018, Presley began his career with Susquehanna Service Dogs and was raised by a Penn State student in SSD’s Roar for More Puppy Raising Program in State College, PA. However, his strengths and special skills did not match well with assistance dog work, and he was selected to join the CIA’s Canine Explosive Ordinance Detection program, where he trained with his handler to become an explosives detection K9.

Upon graduation, he joined his handler as a K9 unit with the Fairfax County Police Department. In Paris this summer, he and his handler will work alongside French police to keep people and athletes safe.

Everyone involved in Presley’s journey played a crucial role in preparing him for his current job. Susquehanna Service Dogs’ puppy raisers and puppy sitters are critical to helping the dogs learn foundational skills and good manners, as well as preparing the dogs to work in public.
