As the Vice President of Global Programs and Advocacy, Genevieve Fitzgibbon leads the development and strengthening of critical partnerships and advocacy priorities to expand our effectiveness, influence, and impact on a global scale. Genevieve also serves as the head of Keystone Human Services International (KHSI), ensuring our innovative work toward disability inclusion continues to make a significant impact, especially among priority audiences including funders, coalitions, and governments.
She has been with Keystone Human Services since 2006 and served as the President and CEO of KHSI from 2022 through 2024. She has devoted her career toward the full community inclusion of people with disability and equal rights for all people and has over three decades of experience promoting the development of innovative supports for people with intellectual disability and autism, as well as people who use mental health services.
She has supported the establishment of Keystone Human Services India Association, was deeply involved in the formative stages of Keystone Moldova’s ongoing community inclusion and systems change work, and continues to provide guidance and oversight to the teams in both countries.
Prior to joining KHS, Genevieve worked at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Center on Mental Health Services Research and Policy, housed in the College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. She has published and presented on a number of inclusion and disability-related topics, including school to work transition for youth with emotional/behavioral challenges; participatory action research methodologies; evidence-based practices in mental health and rehabilitation, recovery self-management, and community-based supports; advance directives for mental health care; self-determination and technology utilization; advocacy and rights-based approaches to inclusion; disability inclusive disaster preparedness; and family strengthening and resilience.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from DePaul University and completed her Transnational NGO Leadership Certification in 2017 from Syracuse University.
